Bookworm Beijing hosts the Chinese launch of Imperial Masquerade: The Legend of Princess Der Ling
In the heart of the imperial capital that served as the stage of Princess Der Ling's early adventures at
the court of the Empress Dowager Cixi, the author will talk about the many-faceted personality that was Princess Der Ling,
and give a reading from his book, the first biography of this unique twentieth century woman.
Along with rare photographs from the court of the Empress Dowager Cixi, lent for use by the Smithsonian
Institution, attendees may also view autographed books by Der Ling as well as ephemera related to her American lectures
in the 1930's.
Books will be available for purchase - the author will happily sign (and chop) copies on
request.

Hong Kong has long been a meeting place for East and West, which makes it all the more appropriate
that the first biography of the cosmopolitan Princess Der Ling should be published by Hong Kong University Press. For his
lecture at Hong Kong University Library, the author will talk about the many-faceted personality that was Princess Der
Ling, and give a reading from his book. Along with rare photographs from the court of the Empress
